Lady Catherine played a role of the wealthy woman that her role depicted the position of Collins families. When Elizabeth first visited Catherine, her characters show directly the noble features: her dress and behaviors. However, the noble identity also emphasized her arrogant. She asked Elizabeth to play the piano when Elizabeth tried to decline. She also mentioned Darcy’s sister was really good at instruments. It seems to look down other people and her mind. Elizabeth was only a humble girl although she was beautiful. She thought Eli has scheming to make friends with someone of a higher social position. Her behavior seems to warn Eli. Lady Catherine was actually a particular role in this novel. She showed the situation and behavior of the noble people in that period with arrogant character. From the page 356, when she rushed to Eli’s house, she still tried to show her arrogant to Eli and satirized Eli that she has scheming to ask Darcy to marry her. However, Eli was a different girl and she was so brave that she was not scared lady Catherine. Her words enraged Catherine that Catherine changed her behaviors into anger. Actually, Eli was the only girl did not flatter Catherine and directly to show her mind. However, Eli’s difference was regarding as scheming that Darcy decided to marry her. The word of lady Catherine was rude that it really different from her behavior in the early chapter. She actually lost her grace and became crazy. She directly to point out that Eli was tried to break the relationship between Darcy and his sister, Eli was a humble girl tried to get marry with a wealthy people. Lady Catherine was the role to show the stereotype of wealthy people. They looked down on other people. However, Eli was standing for the people who did not care the level and bravely chasing her love.
