“Now, Kitty, you may cough as much as you chuse,” said Mr. Bennet; and as he spoke, he left the room, fatigued with raptures if his wife.”(47)
The quote I chose from the book, Pride and Prejudice, showed Mr. Bennet’s disgust of his wife. His wife was so artificial that she heard that wealthy man. Mr. Bingley moved to be their new neighbor. She hurried to ask her husband to invite Mr. Bingley so that he could meet her daughters. She was a mother that hopes he would marry one of her daughters. She was very unmannered when she heard that her husband did not want to invite Mr. Bingley for a special purpose. She cried out she did not like Mr. Bennet when she knew they would not to visit Mr. Bennet. However, when her husband told her the surprise that they would go to visit Mr. Bennet. She was so excited that she has changed her caterwauling to exciting. From The Madwoman in the Attic, women’s roles were depicted in the images of angel and monster because they had many masks to reflect their characteristics. For Mrs. Bennet, she was worried to help her daughters to find desirable husbands. Her squire husband made her decide to find the wealthy man to be her daughter’s husband. On the surface, she was a mannered Mrs. Squire like a noble angel. She had five beautiful and intelligent daughters. However, her behaviors let other people feel sick and thought she was greedy for money. So that she was not an angle but a vulgar “monster”.
